TIL: SSH’ing into a Ubiquiti Device After Adoption

When you add a new Ubiquiti device to your network, it’s relatively easy to connect to it:

ssh ubnt@<device IP>
password: ubnt

Once you complete adoption in your controller, the login information is reset. The new login information is defined in your Ubiquiti Controller under ‘Settings’ – ‘System’ – ‘Device Authentication’:
You can choose to disable ssh completely by unchecking the ‘Device SSH Authentication’ checkbox, but if enables, you must supply a username and password, while supplying an SSH key is optional.

ssh controller-admin@<device IP>
password: <password set in controller>

Updating the Device Authentication information will reset and restart all devices managed in that site by the controller.
